PGY1 residencies traditionally provide a “generalist” type of training. They include:

PGY2 residencies provide advanced training in focused patient care areas such as the following

  • Critical Care
  • Drug Information
  • Geriatrics
  • Infectious Disease
  • Internal MedicinePharmacy Residency - Ӱֱapp
  • Management
  • Medical Informatics
  • Nuclear
  • Nutrition Support
  • Pediatrics
  • Pharmacotherapy (may be 2 year program)
  • Primary Care
  • Psychiatry
  • Oncology

In most cases, you must complete PGY1 residency before going on to a PGY2 residency but there are some exceptions (e.g., in some Community Care Pharmacy Practice or Managed Care System programs).
